Sometimes referred to as the Trefignath Standing Stone because of its close proximity to the Trefignath Burial Chambers, the Ty Mawr Standing Stone is approximately eight feet tall.
One observer has noted recent excavation work nearby that has uncovered several round houses and a long house and 6,000 year old axe heads, flint tools, jet, and other stone tools.
The area is the site of much industrial development recently.
