Shovel Down consists of a multitude of megalithic remains which together make up the complex of ceremonial sites. The site includes an open stone circle, a fourfold cairn circle, a long single stone row, six double stone rows or avenues, a giant longstone standing stone, several other standing stones, several cairns, and the remains of an ancient settlement.

Journey to Shovel Down
The Shovel Down Ancient Settlement and Ceremonial Complex is located in the north central area of Dartmoor National Park in Devon in southwest England. From Chagford, follow the Manor Road toward Thorn and Tregicombe to Batworthy Corner. From here it is only a short walk until the first of the sites is encountered.
