The Iron Age Rennibister Earth House, known as a souterrain in other locales, is completely underground. Access was originally made through a long low passage. Today, the visitor enters through a hatch in the roof and a ladder that leads into the main chamber.

The main chamber measures approximately 11 feet by 8-1/2 feet. Its roof is corbelled measuring 5 feet at its highest. Five small stone alcoves are built into the walls of the main chamber.
