After Silbury Hill, Gop-y-Goleuni is the largest prehistoric monument in the U.K. The site measures approximately 300 x 225 feet and is almost 40 feet high. It is made of mostly stone construction.

Excavations in 1886-7 revealed just a few bones of animals, with no chambers or passages being discovered. Many observers, however, believe there may be a large passage grave lurking beneath the mound. Others believe that the nearby caves are connected to the cairn.
