Cahergal Stone Fort (or Cahergall, as it is sometimes known) has been dated to 600 A.D. and is over 80 feet in diameter.

Most of Cahergal's reconstructed walls are between six and 13 feet high and over 15 feet thick. The interior of its walls are stair-cased, which easily enable the visitor to access the top of the wall.

In the center of the enclosure are the reconstructed ruins of the base of a substantial round structure. One observer has also suggested the presence of wooden structures against the walls at one time.
