Blackhammer Stalled Chambered Cairn, which has been dated to ca.3000 B.C., is built into a steep hillside overlooking Wyre Sound. A rectangular mound, entrance is now a ladder from a hatch on the roof. The original entrance passage, sealed when discovered, opened from the side of the tomb.
Excavated in 1936, the chamber is almost 43 feet long and is divided into seven compartments by pairs of upright stone slabs.

The Blackhammer Stalled Chambered Cairn is off the B9064 on Island of Rousay, two miles west of the Orkney Ferries pier.
