Approaching the 15th Century Teampall an Ceathrar Alainn Church, one is immediarely drawn to the four graves at the gable end. Here lie, it is said, the Four Comely Saints: St. Fursey,a missionary in Britain and Europe in the 7th Century, St. Brendan of Birr (a close friend of St. Columcille), St. Conal, and St. Bearchan. Not much is known of the latter two saints mentioned.

Near the church is Tobar an Ceathrar Alainn, a small encircled holy well surrounded by a stone wall, made famous by the Irish author, John Millington Synge in his work, The Well of the Saints.
